Pressed leaves make each place card feel personal without crowding the table. This guide pairs a single flat leaf with folded cardstock, leaving enough space for a guest’s name and a short handwritten note.
Choose materials that suit the project
Choose dry leaves with intact edges and press them between absorbent sheets inside a heavy book for several days. Test the arrangement on scrap paper first; thin leaves are delicate, so a glue stick or tiny dots of craft glue work better than a heavy wet coat.
Make it neatly
Use similarly sized cards for a calm table setting. If the cards will be handled often, seal the leaf lightly with a clear matte craft medium after the glue has dried, testing on a spare leaf first.
Display and store
Let adhesives and finishes dry completely before styling the finished piece. Keep it away from damp surfaces and direct heat, and store it flat or in a shallow box so delicate details stay in place.
Press the leaves
Place leaves between absorbent paper inside a heavy book. Check after several days; they should feel flat and dry, not cool or flexible.
Fold and plan the cards
Fold cardstock into tent cards and write each name lightly in pencil. Arrange one leaf beside the name, leaving a clear margin around the edges.
Attach the leaf gently
Brush away crumbs, then use a glue stick or tiny dots of craft glue under the thicker veins. Press under clean paper until dry.

Add names and protect
Write names with a fine-tip pen after the adhesive sets. If sealing, test the finish on a spare leaf and apply one light coat.

Common questions
How long should leaves be pressed?
Most thin leaves flatten in several days; thicker leaves may need a week. Replace damp blotting paper so the leaves dry rather than darken.
Can I use fresh leaves?
Press them first. Fresh leaves can curl, stain the card or trap moisture under adhesive.
How do I keep place cards from tipping?
Use firm cardstock, make a crisp center fold and keep the decoration light so the tent card remains balanced.
